Newly elected American President Joe Biden officially announced his success last Saturday, vowing to be the president who strives to ‘rebuild the soul of America, to rebuild the backbone of this nation (US), the middle class, and to make America respected around the world again ‘.
“It’s time to put away the harsh rhetoric, lower the temperature, see each other again, listen to each other again. And to make progress we have to stop treating our opponents as enemies,” Biden said.
“This is the time to heal in America,” he added.
Speaking directly to Donald Trump supporters, Biden said he understood their frustration, but now was the time to give each other a chance to move forward together.
“For all those of you who voted for President Trump, I understand the disappointment tonight. I’ve lost a couple of times myself. But now, let’s give each other a chance,” he said.
Biden said his first task as soon as he set foot in the White House was to handle the pandemic, without overcoming the problem it would be difficult for the US to make progress and redevelop the economy and restore the country to normal.
His first step is reportedly to begin as early as Monday (today) by naming a group of leading scientists and experts as transitional advisors.
Biden, who will turn 78 years and two months before the official inauguration ceremony, makes him the oldest president in U.S. history.
