Previously, pictures of foreign workers wearing pink quarantine bracelets while working at a construction site have gone viral on social media.

The picture has indirectly sparked public concern over the COVID-19 infectious outbreak.

However, the Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah explained on his Facebook page that the foreign worker wearing the pink bracelet had already undergone surveillance screening at the construction site.

Here is the full explanation by Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham regarding the issue:

The latest, viral two photos showing foreign workers still at the construction site wearing pink bracelets. (Do not comment first until you hear this explanation).

In fact, 264 of the 273 that have been screened, are through construction site surveillance screening. They are within the construction site area (basement 1 & 2 shared houses and riverside shared houses).

They were given pink bracelets because they were not citizens and to prevent them from leaving the construction site. But they can still move inside the construction site because it is a surveillance screening, not a close contact screening.

The developer has been asked to ensure that everything screened is within the construction site area. Two security guards were stationed at the entrance of the construction site and the IPD Wangsa Maju police also carried out daily monitoring.

Developers are also advised to do disinfection work.
From 13/11/2020 until 15/11/2020 the developer has temporarily stopped operations to give way to cleaning and desecration work until the screening results are obtained on 15/11/2020.

Release order and cutting of the pink bracelet was done on 15/11/2020, at 11 am at the construction site.

The result of the screening shows there is only one positive case but this case does not stay on the construction site but resides outside the construction site.

There are close contacts: 8 people have been quarantined. Quarantine period 14 days (7 / 11-20 / 11).

All other employees are negative and have been given release (release order) on 15/11/2020 except 8 people who are in close contact with the positive case earlier are still undergoing quarantine period.
