Monopoly Unveils Its ‘Longest Game Ever’ Edition

With 66 properties, Monopoly unveils its ‘Longest Game Ever’ variant – 33 more than the original version. By adding just one dice, Hasbro has offered board game enthusiasts the ability to spend even longer playing Monopoly.

The game, which typically has two dices, will see players inching around the perimeter, with game pieces shaped like small tortoises and hares. The board has 66 properties, according to Mentalfloss, which is 38 more than the original edition.

Auctions are not approved, but there are a few other changes that help to transfer cash and keep the game going.

One difference is that they get charged when a player lands on the ‘Free Parking’ space in this iteration of the game.

Often, by using perforated lines, each bill can be divided into smaller amounts, allowing players to expand their buying options, meaning there is less risk of bankruptcy.

As it doesn’t stop when all but one player goes bankrupt, the main change has to do with how the game is won.

You can continue playing after you’ve declared bankruptcy in this version of Monopoly, but you have to own every property on the board. This means that this version won’t stop until anyone owns all 66 houses, 16 highways, four railroads and two utilities.

Hasbro said: ‘The game doesn’t end until someone owns every single property – and there are 3 versions of each in this board game’.
