Demon Slayer: Mugen Train may not have reached worldwide theaters as of yet, but this does not stop the first movie in the Demon Slayer series from breaking records at the box office, with the new adventure of Tanjiro and Nezuko making the exceeding total profits from Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away!
Originally, when it came to the overall box office, Spirited Away took in more than hundreds of millions of dollars, but Demon Slayer: Mugen Train had such an impressive run that it managed to take in even more despite not reaching all the theaters in the world!
The first film of Demon Slayer serves as a continuation of the first anime season, following Tanjiro and his friends as they try to combat supernatural threats aboard a runaway locomotive.
Fans are eagerly waiting to see when the second season of the TV series will be announced, with Studio Ufotable responsible for both this new film and the first season of the series produced by Koyoharu Gotouge.
For quite some time, Spirited Away, which was the only film from Studio Ghibli to win the “Best Animated Feature” Academy Award, kept a steady lead over this new Ufotable film, but it is obvious that the Demon Slayer Corps’ latest anime adventure has grown to be one of the most successful anime movies ever made!
Twitter user Ario Tengen shared the big news that the Mugen Train shows no signs of stopping any time soon, as the “reign as the box office champion” of Spirited Away has lost to the first film of Demon Slayer as it surpasses over $300 million in income overall.

Studio Ghibli may have been overshadowed here by Demon Slayer, but that is not stopping the legendary animation studio from working diligently on their two upcoming projects that is Earwig And The Witch and How Do You Live.
The animation house will have plenty of chances to try to take back the crown with the now-in-progress amusement park that brings some of Ghibli’s biggest films to life!
