(Video) Get Ready for ‘Earwig and the Witch’, Studio Ghibli’s First CGI Movie

Many of us might watch at least one of the movies produced by Studio Ghibli, or even heard of it. It’s no shock that their distinctive art style and animation would capture the hearts of many people either children or adults.

Now, Studio Ghibli wanted to approach the fully-generated animation, instead of the traditional way, which has always been their identity.

The company has released its first trailer for Earwig and the Witch, which will be making its premiere on NHK on December 30th.

Aya, an orphan that was taken from her home by a weird pair, learns that she is a witch’s daughter. The style of the CGI is very easy on the eyes, as they avoid the usual 3D-rendered styles that would taint their style.

The movie is set to premiere in North American theaters in early 2021. It’s not certain this will be a classic on par with Spirited Away or My Neighbor Totoro, but it has the Miyazaki heritage with Hayao’s son Goro Miyazaki directing the movie.
