GOT7 Will Be Leaving JYP Entertainment After Seven Years

As their deal with their JYP Entertainment agency comes to an end after seven years, GOT7 has sent heartfelt messages to fans. Since 2014, the K-Pop group, comprised of JB, Mark, Jackson, Jinyoung, Youngjae, Yugyeom, and BamBam, has been with the agency.

When their arrangement expires on January 19, they will all leave JYP Entertainment to embark on solo careers. Members went to Instagram and used the hashtag ‘GOT7 FOREVER’ to share the same community image, showing that they have not split for good.

Mark also tweeted a further message, emphasizing that ‘nothing is coming to an end’. He wrote: ‘The past 7 years have been the best years of my life.

‘Nothing is coming to an end, just the beginning. The seven of us are going to continue to bring you guys the best version of us till the end. #GOT7FOREVER.’

The Golden Disc Awards on Sunday, where they won best album for DYE, was one of their last public appearances together as GOT7 (for now).

Since then, JYP Entertainment has issued a statement announcing that the whole community will move on. It read: “JYP has held thorough discussions with the GOT7 members ahead of the expiration of their exclusive contract on January 19.

“As a result, both sides have agreed not to renew the contract while hoping for a fresh future. GOT7 has performed exceptionally as a global idol group that represents K-pop since their debut on January 16, 2014.

“We genuinely thank GOT7 for being part of the growth of K-pop and JYP, as well as I GOT7 and all fans who have been a source of motivation to GOT7’s activities with their endless support since their debut.

“Our official relationship ends here, but JYP will sincerely cheer on the new future that the GOT7 members will advance into.”

Jinyoung is said to be in talks with acting agency BH Entertainment, according to Dispatch, while Youngjae is reportedly doing the same with Sublime Artist Agency.

It is said that JB had offers from a hip hop company and a worldwide music label, Jackson will continue in China with his label Team Wang and promote with a separate agency in Korea, and BamBam will also promote with respective agencies.

In order to start a YouTube channel and release music in America, Mark will reportedly go back to his home town in Los Angeles to spend time with his family.

Yugyeom was previously claimed to have signed with AOMG, a hip hop label. GOT7 has continued to release songs such as Girls Girls Girls, Just Right, Hard Carry and Lullaby since debuting in 2014.

They embarked on a 2019 world tour, which saw them play at Wembley Arena for the first time in London. In November 2020, their final album was Breath Of Love: Last Piece.
