Strong Earthquake Strikes Sulawesi In Indonesia

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 15  — A strong earthquake, measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale, struck Sulawesi in Indonesia at 2.28 am today, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department.

It occurred 143 km west from Palopo, Indonesia at a depth of 27 km, the department said in a statement.

The quake did not pose any tsunami threat to Malaysia, it said.
