(Video) SOS Signal In Laki Island Has Nothing To Do With Sriwijaya Air Plane Crash

Recently, there has been news that went viral on social media about something shocking and that is the presence of SOS signs or signals which is a signal to ask for help. The signal is located in Laki Island near the crash site of Sriwijaya Air Boeing SJ-182.

According to the Kumparan report, the Director of National SAR Operations (Basarnas) that is Brigadier General Rasman MS confirmed that the SOS signal on Pulau Laki had nothing to do with the request for assistance by anyone involved in the crash of the Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 aircraft.

Reportedly, Basarnas also has reported that they did not find anything as soon as the search operation was carried out in the district. “There is nothing there and I have confirmed to all members that none of the passengers of the plane were stranded there,” said Rasman when contacted by Kumparan reporters.

Rasman also added that the SOS signal is likely to appear due to local fishermen taking refuge for a while on the island due to bad weather at sea. Before bad things happen, fishermen will open SOS signals through their smartphones to provide information on their whereabouts. “Usually fishermen will take refuge on this island if the weather is not good for them to go to sea. The boat will be hoisted and it is possible that accidentally playing on the phone, this SOS signal is reflected on Google Maps” said Rasman.

All of the netizens’ questions about the transmission of the SOS signal on Laki Island have been answered and it is proven that no passengers were stranded and asked for help on the island.
