We all know that an elevator is a vertical cable transportation machine that moves people or freight between floors, levels, or decks of a building.
Its use is very important especially for the community living in the flat housing area. However, have any of you ever brought a motorcycle into the elevator? Some even dispute the issue.
Through a post by the Kuantan Municipal Council on Facebook, bringing a motorcycle into an elevator can damage it.
“For everyone’s information, the housing elevator as in PPRS Pak Mahat is called the passenger elevator. It is not for lifting goods or vehicles that are commonly called Cargo Elevator or Service Lift,” wrote Kuantan Municipal Council.
Here are the reasons why motorcycles are not allowed into the elevator:
1. Bring a motorcycle into the passenger elevator can cause physical damage, for example, the elevator wall is damaged and debris is damaged due to the impact of the motorcycle tires, from the motor handle.
2. The elevator floor breaks due to shocks and friction during entry and exit.
3. The sensor system on the elevator door is affected when the door is hit by a motorcycle.
4. When the motorcycle comes out of the elevator, sometimes it competes with the elevator door causing the seal on the door leaf to bend. When bent, the elevator doors cannot close tightly and the elevator does not work.
5. The interior of the elevator at PPRS Pak Mahat has been upgraded in 2019 and has cost RM15,000 for each elevator.
Kuantan Municipal Council also reminds the public, especially those living in areas that use elevators to always appreciate and maintain this facility as best as possible.
