Putrajaya Food Truck Operators Seeking Permission To Operate Until Midnight

PUTRAJAYA, Feb 3 — Food truck operators in Precinct 2 and Precinct 15 here have asked the government to allow them to operate until midnight and their customers to dine-in in full compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOP).

The request was conveyed to the Deputy Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Rosol Wahid who checked on the two food truck hotspots here last night, during which the food truck operators also expressed difficulty in sustaining momentum in their business during this challenging period.

Rosol in a statement today said he would bring the request to the attention of Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi to be extended to the National Security Council (MKN) so that a risk assessment could be done and appropriate measures be taken to address the issue.

“I am confident, as a concerned government, the authorities will look into the request because the issue of business survival especially for petty traders not only occurs in Putrajaya but also throughout the country,” he said.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob yesterday announced that the Movement Control Order (MCO) which was supposed to end on Feb 4, has been extended until Feb 18 nationwide except in Sarawak, following the spike in new COVID-19 cases in all states.

The government has allowed eateries, restaurants and food delivery services to operate until 10 pm starting Jan 22, but dining in is still not allowed.
