Recently, Selangor FC has officially launched their own brand new Home jersey for the 2021 season digitally on all Red Giants’ social media platforms. Proudly to announce that their Home jersey this time around is inspired by the one and only national football legend and that would be the late Mokhtar Dahari or better known as “SuperMokh”.
It was actually designed like the jersey that he wore only once when The Red Giants won the 27th Malaysia Cup in 1986.
This Home 2021 jersey still holds on to some important elements from the previous 1986 jersey. Among them that can be seen is the jersey color that are the red, yellow, and green colors which were taken from the flag of the Raja Muda of Selangor, in the honor of DYMM Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, His Royal Highness the Raja Muda of Selangor of that particular time and also the number one supporter of the Selangor team.
The current position of the Selangor FC emblem is also placed on the right side of the chest this time. It would be just like the original jersey to highlight the retroelement of the home jersey this season.
Despite all the retroelements that are still retained in the design, there are also some modern elements incorporated in it to fit a more contemporary design. Some of the examples would be the flower motif representing the state’s official flower that is the Tanjung flower and it is placed on the yellow part of the jersey.
Other than that, the Home jersey 2021 season edition also has a red and yellow quarterly flag on the chest and ribbon written: “85 Years Creating A Legacy” embedded on the back of the collar, in conjunction with the 85th anniversary of the founding of this football team.
The Selangor FC management said, “Selangor FC hopes that the 2021 home jersey inspired by Mokhtar Dahari and the 1986 Selangor team will inspire the Selangor team and officials to do their best in their quest for glory this year”.
