Turkish Man Arrested For Killing His Pregnant Wife, Pushes Her Off Cliff For Insurance Money

In 2018 in what supposed to be a happy day for a woman turns into tragedy after she died when she fell from a cliff after posing for selfies. 32-year-old, Semra Ayral, and her unborn baby died during a vacation in Butterfly Valley in Mugla, Turkey in June that year.

Her husband was accused of throwing her off a cliff. He then tried to cash in on her life insurance worth 400,000 Turkish lira, or about RM231,000. But was denied due to a police investigation.

Naim Yolcu, the victim’s brother said Hakan didn’t show emotion after his sister died.

“When we went to the Forensic Medicine Institute to get the body, Hakan was sitting in the car,” he recalled during a video interview. “My family and I were destroyed, but Hakan did not even appear sad.”

They were on the cliff for three hours before he allegedly pushed her. The prosecution stated that he was trying to ensure absolutely no eyewitnesses for his act.

According to Naim, Hakan took three loans under his sister’s name. This added to the motive for murder. “My sister is always against taking loans,” he added. He further added that Hakan is afraid of height. So what was he doing at the cliff with his sister?

Hakan, however, denied the accusations and claimed that he was getting the phone for her until she allegedly dropped to her death 1000 feet under.

Fethiye High Court ruled Ayral to be remanded in custody for premeditated murder and investigation is still undergoing.
