A fishing boat caught fire and started to sink about 13 km off Koh Adang. All of the ship’s crew, eight in total jumped off and rescued by a passing fishing ship. According to the Thai newspaper, The Nation, all of the human crew had been evacuated. But they soon remembered of their feline crew left on board.

The navy was called to inspect the site for the oil spill and discovered the ginger felines huddled together.

First-Class Petty Officer Wichit Pukdeelon said, “I used my camera to zoom in to the boat, and I saw one or two cats popping their heads out.”

A sailor swam out to the capsized boat, before putting the cats on his back to take them to safety.

Thankfully, the cats suffered no injuries and are healthy. They are now being cared for by their rescuers and are happy and dry at their command post.
