Japanese Man Arrested For Stealing Women’s Shoes, Replacing Them With New One

A Japanese man has been arrested on charges of changing a woman’s old shoes with a new version. He then took the old shoes for himself.

According to a SoraNews24 report, the 33 -year -old man admitted to taking the shoes so that he could smell them.

“It’s not a mistake,” he admitted to the authorities.

“I wanted to smell the scent of women’s shoes,” he added.

The man who is from Nagakute City in Aichi is believed to have stolen about 20 pairs of shoes with different styles such as boots, flats, loafers, and heels.

Police suspect that the man targeted his victim first and bought shoes similar to theirs before making the exchange.

The man’s activities were finally uncovered when a 23-year-old music teacher realized that her worn-out shoes she wore to work suddenly looked and felt new at the end of the day.

Japanese workers usually change their shoes into slippers while working, and wear appropriate shoes only for travel.

The teacher then contacted the police after suspecting that her shoes had been switched out.

After several investigations by the police, they finally arrested the man on April 6, whereupon he confessed to the crime he committed.

Police believe the crime was planned beforehand, as the man was willing to replace each pair of shoes with a new pair of the same brand, style, size, and color. They are currently investigating whether additional charges should be brought against him.
