(Video) ‘Real-Life Rapunzel’ Finally Cut Her Hair For The First Time In 12 years

Lockdown causing a lot of people to resort to becoming their own barbers at home. Some even take this chance to grow their hair out.

But what if you did not cut your hair for 12 years? A teenage girl in India, Nilanshi Patel vowed to stop cutting her hair 12 years ago after a bad haircut. Her determination causing her to break a world record. Now, at 18 years old she is the holder of the Guinness World Record for longest hair with 200cm.

However, she has decided to cut it all off into a short bob.

“My hair gave me a lot – because of my hair I am known as the ‘real-life Rapunzel’, now it’s time to give back,” she said. Her locks will be donated to a museum of Ripley’s Believe It or Not!, California. Her mother, Kaminiben also pledged to donate her own hair to cancer patients.

The bundle of hair gathered together into a bunch and then shipped, weighing 266 g.

Fortunately, she gets better service from her hairdresser now. Her new hairstyle with fringe pleased her. “I love my new hairstyle. I feel proud that I’m going to send my hair to the US museum- people will see and be inspired by my hair. I’m really, really happy… Today is a new beginning and I hope I will break many more records in the future.”
