A 24K Golden Nintendo Wii Designed For The Queen of England Is Now Up For Sale

A gaming console plated with 24K Gold was once sent to Queen Elizabeth II but now it is up for auction on eBay. This golden Wii has its own history but perhaps it is not needed by a Queen.

A few years back, a games company was trying to increase the marketing ploy so they made the queen the owner of their new console. Sadly, Buckingham Palace rejected the delivery before it makes its way to the queen.

After that, the rejected gaming console ended up on a shelf of a Dutch video games collector, Donny who has now put up the Golden Wii on the world’s online marketplace, eBay for $300,000 (USD). This unsettled sale attracted media coverage as the item is considered ‘legendary’ to the gaming world.

Donny said, “I’m moving on with life,” when he was asked why he decided to let go of the console by the reporters.

He did not say it particularly that he might have found his collection of video games are burdensome but he did say that he wanted to move to a new place and start over.

When his friends and colleagues advised him to sell the item for half a million dollars, he rejected the idea for his own reasons. He said that he doesn’t need that much money to buy a new place and he also wanted to make the item affordable for lots of collectors, not the super-rich ones only.

Even so, $300,000 is not a small amount and it takes someone well off with the same interest to actually spend thousands on a gaming console.

If you look it up on the eBay website you can see that Donny chose to put add OBO (or best offer) in the listing. He put it on that platform as he wants to give the opportunity to wider viewers of potential buyers. He is also determined to stick to that choice even if the Golden Wii console got sold for less than the original price, $300,000.

He might also get lucky if a bidding war for the item happens.

People who collect things doesn’t matter if it’s valuable or not, are the special kinds. This includes Donny and he admitted that the decision to let go of the Golden Wii is a tough one for him to make and he was struggling with it but he knows that it was time for him to turn over a new leaf.

If you head over to eBay, you can still find the item there and you might be the new owner if you have $300,000. Who knows?
