A man has sparked anger from all kinds of parties after uploading a picture of him on a crocodile in a river in Australia.
The photo shows the barefoot man riding a crocodile like it was a surfboard. He managed to tie a rope around the big reptile’s mouth and hold on to it, looking like he was steering in the misty water.
From the image, he can be seen trying to balance himself on the reptile’s back while his friends watch from a boat nearby.
The photograph was uploaded to Reddit with ‘Most Aussie photo I have’ as the caption.
This viral post has caused fury for the country with animal rights organizations. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) attacked the man, said he was ‘looking for attention’.
“If this stunt is the ‘most Aussie thing ever’, we should be ashamed,” said Emily Rice, PETA spokeswoman.
“Animals are not surfboards, and we should no more be applauding a person who ‘surfs’ on a crocodile than we should applaud jockeys who whip horses or marine park trainers who torment dolphins,” she added.
“Already in Australia, crocodiles are exploited as tourist spectacles, their nests are raided for eggs so that their babies can be raised on filthy factory farms, and they’re mercilessly slaughtered so that foreign fashion houses can turn their skins into handbags,” Emily said.
There was no update about the man, whether he was injured from the stunt and there is no information about what happened to the crocodile afterward, too.
