Kelantan Govt Donates RM500,000 To HRPZ II To Upgrade EP Study System

KOTA BHARU, June 8  — The Kelantan government has donated RM500,000 to the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital (HRPZ II) here, specifically to upgrade the electrophysiology (EP) study system, which is used to examine the heart’s electrical system.

Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob said with the upgrading of the system, the hospital would be able to provide treatments to heart patients more quickly and effectively without having to be referred to treatment centres outside the state.

“In addition, it is hoped to reduce the mortality and morbidity rate of heart patients,” he said in a statement today.

In the meantime, Ahmad said the state government also donated six units of portable air conditioners to the Kelantan Health Department (JKNK), to be used by the state COVID-19 National Immunisation Programme’s mobile team.

“The mobile vaccination team will move to villages and public areas. Hopefully, this contribution will provide comfort to frontliners in the effort to speed up the inoculation process and achieve herd immunity,” he said.

The handover of the contributions took place at the Menteri Besar’s office in Kota Darulnaim Complex here, with JKNK director Datuk Dr Zaini Hussin and HRPZ II director Datuk Dr Selasawati Ghazali also present.

When met by reporters, Dr Selasawati said the hospital was grateful for the contribution, adding that it would improve patient care by shortening their waiting time for treatment, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic and the Movement Control Order period.

“HRPZ II is the only hospital offering the (EP study) service in Kelantan, thus the contribution to upgrade the system will definitely speed up treatment.

“Furthermore, HRPZ II does not only treat patients from Kelantan but also from Terengganu. We expect the system could benefit between 50 and 80 patients,” she said.
