Life-Lesson For Men, These Are 5 Tips That You Should Do To Cut Your Own Hair At Home

Whether you are working from home or even on the frontline, there is one thing that you can only hide with social distancing for so long and that is your own haircut. Unfortunately, barbershop is one of the sector that still cannot be opened during the implementation of Movement Control Order (MCO) because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of that, people especially men would have to learn a particular skill in their life and that is to cut their own hair.

But for those who typically only rely on a trusted barber to come near their head with clippers, a DIY haircut can feel incredibly daunting. People who get great results every time they sit down to cut their own hair do one thing right and that would be they follow a tried-and-tested roadmap. These are 5 tips men should know to do a self-haircut.

1) Choose The Right Tools For Your Hair

Let us have a look at the tools you will need to purchase before you sit down to cut your own hair. For the short types of hair, you will definitely need hair clippers, hair scissors, and also a handheld mirror. Other than that, a haircutting cape, hair thinning scissors, and also any hair products like gel are optional but it is really helpful.

2) Use Dual Mirror Setup

You will need a dual-mirror setup for cutting hair, with one mounted wall mirror and one hand mirror you can use to check out the back of your head. Make sure that you get a durable option for that handheld glass. Scissors and combs are important, but you will only use them for really focused work. Think of them as complements to your clippers.

3) Cut Your Hair In Bathroom

Find a place that is easy to clean and it is recommended to be the bathroom. The bathroom would be the best so that water from the tap and the shower for immediate wash-off are both within easy reach. You can get a smock to keep the hair off your body too.

4) Choose The Haircut Style You Want

If this is your first time, do not make things hard on yourself and just pick something easy. Thankfully, like everything else, there are YouTube guides for just about every style of haircut there is. Just type in what you want, and there will be plenty of chatty videos to show you how to do it. Rather than just finding one video and starting from there, however, I recommend watching at like two or three to find the similarities between the methods.

5) Get The Right Position To Cut Your Hair Properly

You should stand in front of the mirror, holding the clippers in one hand and the hand mirror in the other. When cutting the sides and back of the head, hold the hand mirror so its reflection in the wall mirror can be seen, so you never cutting blind. This is especially helpful when the time comes to clean up the neck with the trimmer.
