Movie Review: What To Be Expect From Zack Snyder’s ‘Army of The Dead’

‘Army of the Dead’ is actually a 2021 American zombie movie film directed by Zack Snyder from a screenplay that he co-wrote with Shay Hatten and also Joby Harold which is based on a story he also created. The film features an ensemble cast consisting of Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Omari Hardwick, Ana de la Reguera, Theo Rossi, Matthias Schweighöfer, Nora Arnezeder, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tig Notaro, Raúl Castillo, Huma Qureshi, and Garret Dillahunt.

It follows a group of mercenaries who plan a Las Vegas casino heist amid a zombie apocalypse. Snyder conceived the idea for Army of the Dead as a spiritual successor to his 2004 debut film Dawn of the Dead. According to the trailer, this movie based on a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas, a group of mercenaries takes the ultimate gamble by venturing into the quarantine zone for the greatest heist ever.

What ‘Army of The Dead’ Is About

With the abandoned, walled city of Las Vegas overrun with zombies, after a disastrous government fault, the billionaire casino magnate, Bly Tanaka realizes that he has left something in Sin City that is $200 million to be more precise. For the time being, his mountains of cash are safe behind his impenetrable casino vault. However, the US President plans to nuke the entire city in less than 96 hours.

Now, Tanaka is willing to pay $50 million to the decorated former mercenary, Scott Ward, and his hand-picked team to retrieve the money before the bomb obliterates the city. Indeed, this is a life-changing offer Scott cannot refuse. Nevertheless, the rules have changed, and the horde of the walking undead seems to be more organized than they might have expected. But, time is running out.

What Can Be Said About ‘Army of The Dead’

‘Army of the Dead’ is an iconic new and fresh take on the zombie genre which is certainly ironic for a movie about the undead. It has a bloody good time looking forward to exploring more of this universe. It is a lot of fun. It is one of the best zombie films ever and definitely has the best cinematography and visual effects. The visual special effects and makeup for ‘Army of the Dead’ are absolutely fantastic.

The characters are interesting and lovable. The gore and horror elements were intriguing. Zack Snyder’s eye for action and visual storytelling makes him the most underrated and underappreciated director of his generation. ‘Army of the Dead’ is a must-watch movie.
