The Tamagotchi Is Back! This Time, In The Form of A Smartwatch!

Time sure moves fast as it has been 25 years since the first Tamagotchi came out. An iconic toy is now in a better form of modern technology where it is wearable and you can call out to your pet. You can even touch the screen to pet it!

Introducing the Smart, an updated version of Tamagotchi that will be released in November.

The previous version of Tamagotchi was released in November 1996 as an electronic toy designed for kids. New to this model from Japanese toymaker, Bandai, the Tamagotchi smartwatch includes touch and voice controls. It also features a touchscreen LCD and up to 30 hours of battery life where you can recharge via USB.

Each purchase of Tamagotchi Smart comes with new characters to care for. “TamaSma”, a card that allows the owners to sideload exclusive characters and items to their wearable will be sold separately by Bandai.

The first Tamagotchi smartwatch will be sold by lottery where you can apply starting from June 17 until July 2 and the winners will be announced later in July. For everyone else, the sale starts on the 23rd of November with a starting price of 7,480 yen (approximately $68).
