Twitter To Start Labelling Tweets Based On Its Validity

Major tech companies have their own way to tackle fake news on their sites and Twitter is not excluded. This company is trying out a fresh idea to tackle fight misinformation.

Jane Manchun Wong, a researcher, posted a sample of a feature that Twitter is working on. According to Wong, Twitter is expanding “three levels of misinformation warning labels” including “Get the latest,” “Stay informed” and “Misleading”.

She explained that even though the “feature and the level name of each misinformation label… are real and created by Twitter,” what she wrote in her own speculation.

Twitter also has not yet publicly announced the new feature. It recently re-rolled out a system that needs you to review your writing before sending it, based on the context.

The company was exploring new ways to help the users to stay informed but any specific information about the new feature is not disclosed yet.

Another tech giant, Facebook is also tightening its policies regarding fake news sharing. They have begun to take steps in calling out the repeated offenders. Last week, it said that it would start to flag pages that continue to share false information.
