Using fresh plates of seafood, sushi can normally get quite expensive but with Chef Angelito Araneta Jr., it is more than just average sushi. The famous Filipino chef is also known as the “Karat Chef”, mainly because he likes to involve gold and diamonds in his masterpiece. His recent creation was made with edible gold, diamonds, and pearls and has now officially named the “world’s most expensive sushi”.
According to Guinness World Records, at the price of $1,978, this five-piece special nigiri roll by Angelito Araneta Jr is officially the most expensive sushi in the world. Starting with the fairly common ingredients, premium pink salmon from Norway and foie gras, it gets better from there.
Instead of wrapping the roll in seaweed like most sushis, Araneta uses an edible 24-karat gold leaf. Now, this sushi is already something different than what people usually would have but again, Angelito is not an average chef. Three Palawan pearls are added to each piece in addition to 20-carats of African diamonds. With all those ingredients, there you go, the most expensive sushi in the world.
