Here are the serious consequences of not sleeping early:

1)  It could cause stunted growth

Over the long term, a person’s growth may be affected by sleeping late and ended up not getting the full amount of sleep. This is because the growth hormone is usually released during sleep. By not getting enough sleep, growth hormone is suppressed.

2) It causes a rapid aging process

An increase in fine lines, uneven pigmentation, and reduced elasticity in the skin can be noticed after a long time of irregular sleep. This is because lack of sleep weakens the skin’s ability to repair and rejuvenate itself. You will end up looking older than your actual years.

3) It could cause skin problems
Beauty sleep is no joke. Missing out on sleep can affect the moisture levels in your skin and lower your complexion’s PH level as well. When your PH levels drop, a skin imbalance is created where it will cause your skin to not produce the moisture that is desperately needed, leading to drier skin.
4) It can make you gain weight

According to a study conducted in 2004, people who sleep less than six hours a day were almost 30 percent more likely to become obese compared to those who sleep seven to nine hours. Sleep loss or sleeping late can appear to stimulate appetite. It also can cause cravings for high-fat, high-carbohydrate foods. This is why getting adequate sleep helps in losing weight and vice versa.
5) It makes you forgetful
In 2009, American and French researchers found that brain events, “sharp wave ripples” are responsible for consolidating memory. The ripples also help in storing long-term memories and sharp-wave ripples occur mostly during the deepest levels of sleep hence the need to sleep early.
6) It put you at risk for Alzheimer’s
Dr. Chelsie Rohrscheib, a neuroscientist and sleep specialist at sleep technology company Tatch said, “Our brain and body undergo many essential biological functions that only occur during sleep, including clearance of toxic waste products that build up in the brain.”
“The accumulation of a specific type of brain waste called beta-amyloid is thought to be the primary cause of Alzheimer’s disease.

“Most of the removal of beta-amyloid occurs during the deepest stages of sleep,” Rohrscheib said. “When sleep is restricted to less than seven hours, the brain has less time to clear beta-amyloid away, leading to toxic levels of accumulation and raising the risk of developing Alzheimer’s.”
