Eight Flood Evacuation Centres Opened In Kedah

ALOR SETAR, Sept 29 — Eight relief centres (PPS) have been opened in Kedah to accommodate  210 flood victims, comprising  66 families, in the Sik and Baling districts.

According to a statement by the Kedah Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), seven of the PPS are in Baling, while the PPS in Sik is at Sekolah Kebangsaan Gulau, which accommodates 61 people from 15 families.

The PPS in Baling are at SK Tunku Putera, SK Siong, SK Bandar, SK Tanjung Pari, SK Bayu, SK Titi Gantung and Dewan Banggol Derom.

It said the situation in several areas in Yan and  Gurun (Kuala Muda), which were affected by the floods late yesterday, had returned to normal.

Continuous heavy rain for several hours yesterday caused flooding in several areas in Sik, Kuala Muda, Yan and Baling.
