Though all veggies are beneficial to one’s health, many types have distinct advantages. Like garlic, shallots, leeks, and chives, onions are also part of the Allium genus of flowering plants. These veggies are high in vitamins, minerals, and plant chemicals that have been demonstrated to improve health in a variety of ways.
We often believe that onions are only good for cooking, but this is not the case. Onions can be used for a variety of purposes other than cooking. Here are some of the uses of onions.

1. Eliminates paint odor
If you plan to paint anything inside your home for any reason, prevent yourself from that slightly sick post-paint-job feeling by picking up an unusual grocery shop find: the onion. A sliced onion can absorb and neutralize fresh paint scents, even if it makes you cry while you’re slicing it.
Cut side up, place each half in its own shallow dish at opposite sides of the room. If you’re painting a room larger than a master bedroom or a small living room, you may need more onion; start with one and add more if necessary.
2. Keep fruits fresh
At times we chop our fruits and notice how they turn brownish so fast, even when you keep them in the fridge. By using onion, you can slow down this process. Simple chop half an onion and place it in the same container of your chopped fruits before you store them in the fridge. Onions avoids fruits from bruising or turning brown quickly.
3. Bee stings
It may be odd but onions are another cooking component that can be used to cure wasp and bee stings. Cut an onion in half and place it on the bee or wasp sting, flesh side down, and gently massage until the pain is gone.
4. Clean air fryer or grill
To eliminate built-up filth and grit, simply scrub a half onion facing downwards on a heated grate. To burn off any remaining food, it’s essential to get the grill really hot first. Then, using the end of a long grilling fork, massage it hard with an onion.
Sounds good to be true isn’t it but if it works, then why not!
