Netflix is reuniting with Oscar winner Sandra Bullock after the box office triumph of 2018’s Bird Box. The beloved actress and producer hasn’t been seen on screen in nearly three years, but that will change this fall with the release of her new film, The Unforgivable on Netflix.
The Unforgivable is a Netflix original film about a woman who was freed from jail after completing a 20-year term for committing a heinous crime. When she is released, all she wants to do is find her younger sister, whom she claims she was protecting at the time of the crime, but few people in the real world can look past what she did.
While The Unforgivable won’t be available on Netflix until December 10th, the streaming service is offering movie lovers a sneak peek at what to expect.
This movie is based on the British miniseries Unforgiven, which had three episodes and was released in 2009. The original series was written by Sally Wainwright. Vincent D’Onofrio, Jon Bernthal, Richard Thomas, Linda Emond, Aisling Franciosi, Rob Morgan, Emma Nelson, Will Pullen, Thomas Guiry, and Viola Davis star alongside Bullock in The Unforgivable.
Bullock, along with Graham King and Veronica Ferres, produced The Unforgivable in addition to acting in it. The official logline for The Unforgivable is as follows:
Ruth Slater (Bullock) gets released from jail after serving a sentence for a horrific crime. She re-enters a community that refuses to forgive her. Faced with harsh judgment from the place she once called home, her only chance for redemption is to track down her estranged younger sister, whom she was forced to abandon.
The Unforgivable will be released in theatres on November 24th, followed by a worldwide Netflix streaming debut on December 10th.
