Bullying Is A Serious Problem, Try These Methods On How To Confront Bullies

Bullying is the use of force, coercion, hurtful teasing or threat, to abuse, aggressively dominate or intimidate. The behavior is often repeated and habitual. One essential prerequisite is the perception by the bully or by others of an imbalance of physical or social power. This imbalance distinguishes bullying from conflict. Bullying can be seen as the activity of repeated, aggressive behavior intended to hurt other individuals, physically, mentally, or emotionally.

Nowadays, there are many ways that bullying could happen to other people. It could be face to face or even through social media and it is actually known as cyberbullies. Whatever channel that they use, bullying is definitely wrong to be done. For those who might have to face bullies in their life, worry not and try these methods to confront them.

1) Stand Up And Be Confident.

Some bullies tend to pick and choose their victims because they wanted to bully someone that looks weaker and also much more helpless than them. That is why it is important for us to be more confident with ourselves and show it to the world. By physically standing up to them, you are sending the message that you are not afraid. Sometimes simply standing up to a bully will make them back off. Tell the bully in a confident and certain tone to stop.

2) Bring A Friend With You When You Confront The Bully.

Having a backup for your side would be so beneficial. It would be good for moral support and it surely can make a big difference when confronting a bully. It can also isolate the bully and make it more difficult for the bullies to continue their abuse. Your friend does not need to say anything or even actively participate. Their presence alone can make a difference.

3) Show A Don’t Care Attitude

A bully wants you to be upset. Do your best to show the bully that you do not care what they say. It can be very difficult to stay cool when you are being bullied, but it can make a big difference. Keep a neutral face. Do not ever show your anger, even if you feel it.

4) Interrupt The Bullying When It Happens

Do not wait until later. Whether you see someone else being bullied, or someone is behaving in a way you do not appreciate, act at the moment. Be specific and you have to deal with one problem at a time. Explain why the behavior is unacceptable and how it should change.

5) Keep Out Of The Bully’s Way

When you have to keep on accidentally meeting your bullies every time that you are going somewhere, try to avoid them completely. In that way, you do not have to waste your time and energy when you meet them. Avoid places where your bully hangs out. If the bully does not see you, they cannot bully you.\
