KUANTAN, Dec 23 — A man was feared drowned after he allegedly disappeared while bathing in a river near Kuala Krau railway station, Temerloh yesterday evening.
Pahang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant operation director Ismail Abdul Ghani said police announced the matter after a cousin of the victim lodged a report on his disappearance at 6.15 pm.
He said JBPM had activated a search and rescue (SAR) operation to look for the victim using surface searching in the river.
“Nonetheless the operation was halted at 7.30 pm due to darkness,” he said in a statement here today.
In another development, ismail said a landslide was reported on the main route in front of Genting Permai Petron station in Genting Highlands but there were no casualties reported.
He said the route had been reopened to traffic at 10 pm last night even though cleaning work was still going on.
