Kuala Lumpur, 28th December 2021 – The board of management for The National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM) has expressed its sadness and sympathy to all the victims of the recently flood which affected many areas nationwide and have hit hard in states like Selangor and Pahang.
A number of the society’s teachers, staff and even parents and their children were badly affected by the flood which happened since 17th December 2021. Many of them had their houses flooded knee deep and above, with some beyond the ground floor. Some of these teachers, staff and parents were stranded in their homes for up to three days with minimal food and no electricity waiting for authorities to come and evacuate them.
Many of their belongings like furniture, electrical appliances, documents were destroyed in the flood. NASOM has recently launched an appeal for donation to its flood relief fund in order to assist its teachers, staff and parents affected by the flood so that they can clean up and restore back their homes.
NASOM Chairman, Mr Julian Wong expressed his sadness with the recent flood that affected and displaced its teachers and staff as well as parents and appeals for assistance any way possible. However, he is glad that all of their teachers, staff and parents were safe and no one was injured in any way. He also added that some of NASOM’s board members, secretariat staff and even teachers from various centres offered assistance to clean up the homes of those affected by the flood.
