MCB Commercial Featuring Professor Koko, Boboiboy Garners Over 1.5 Mln Views

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 17 — The Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities and the Malaysian Cocoa Board (MCB) video commercial to promote cocoa from Malaysia has garnered over 1.5 million views since it was uploaded on Monsta YouTube page three weeks ago.

Animonsta Studios (Monsta) in a statement said the commercial features MCB’s newest icon, Professor Koko and popular animated character, BoBoiBoy.

The commercial was published in collaboration with its marketing agency and distribution (Madmonsta), it added.

“Monsta hopes this collaboration with MCB will have a positive impact on public perception of the national cocoa industry, especially among children, not just in Malaysia but also throughout the region,” read the statement.

The company also hoped the collaboration would indirectly inform viewers from around the world about the high quality and grade of cocoa produced in Malaysia.

Elaborating on the connection between cocoa and BoBoiBoy, Madmonsta director Faiz Zainal Aabidin said that cocoa was a crucial element in the earlier episodes of the animated series as it was portrayed as an important source of energy sought by beings from outer space, specifically the Adu Du character.

“Through storytelling in its fantasy world, BoBoiBoy has succeeded in raising the image of cocoa as one of the country’s main commodities on a global scale by penetrating the markets of more than 70 countries,” he said in the statement.
