World Rare Disease Day is actually celebrated to indeed celebrate people living with rare diseases and their families. As stated by the Ministry of Health Malaysia, Malaysia would define a rare disease as which is life-threatening or even would cause chronic disability. 5 facts to know about these rare diseases according to the Ministry of Health Malaysia:

  1. There are indeed a total of 6,000 to 8,000 different types of rare diseases to know.
  2. 75% of the patients are actually children.
  3. 30% of the patients would pass away before they could reach the age of 6 years old.
  4. 80% of rare diseases may be caused by genetic factors.
  5. Other factors could be bacterial infection, allergic, and also surrounding.
