1) Longevity

This is the main difference people could detect between them. Both of the fragrances have different periods of how long they will stay fragrant. A cheaper fragrance will only last for a few hours while the expensive one can last all day. The cheaper one usually will be the Eau De Toilette one. But, the higher price one will always be the Eau De Parfum.
2) Scent Complexity

For any fragrance, there would be three different stages of notes. The arrangement would be the top, heart and then base notes. The first hour after spraying the fragrance, the top notes would be the most noticeable. After that would come the heart notes and base notes next. Cheap fragrances always only have top notes and sometimes only heart notes.
