Down Syndrome Condition, Here Is What To Know About It

Down syndrome is a condition that happens a lot in this whole wide world. Even with all of the occurrences, there are still people that do not really understand it clearly. It is actually a condition that happens to children. They are born with extra chromosomes on the 12th pair of chromosomes. To make it easier, ‘Trisomy 21’ is another name.

Ministry of Health Malaysia posted on Facebook stated, “every down syndrome child should be examined by a pediatrician as early as birth for health assessment and monitoring”. This is because rehabilitation therapy really helps. Good health care can surely help them to achieve maximum ability and development. They are also able to be independent.

Ways To Detect Down Syndrome Condition Earlier

This condition can be detected during pregnancy. It can be done by using a blood test, ultrasound checking, or even amniotic fluid checking.

Obvious Physical Features

  • First, they would have a flat facial expression with the eyes are located quite upward.
  • Second, the small ears.
  • Third, shorter heights.
  • Fourth, one straight line on the palm of the hand. Big hand but with small fingers.
  • Fifth, short neck.
  • Next is the tongue sticking out.
  • Last but not least, is the small size of the head.

Previously, there is a list of successful people with the condition. There are a lot of down syndrome people who have achieved success in their life. They are able to do it despite their condition. That is such a very amazing achievement.
