Malaysia will enter a Transition to the Endemic phase starting April 1, 2022, informed by the Prime Minister, Datuk Sri Ismail Sabri in a press conference.
Before this, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah stated that everyone must have social discipline and compliance to the SOPs. Also, embracing social distancing, taking all the precautionary measures, and maintaining good personal hygiene.
“We must all learn that every individual’s action has a ripple effect on how we manage COVID-19 in our community. We have to adapt, adjust and accommodate the new norms in our lives,” he said.
Next, this transitional phase is for the country to return to normal life after people struggled with the Covid-19 pandemic since 2019.
Other than that, this phase is temporary before the country into a fully endemic phase. is subject to the announcement of the World Health Organization (WHO).
Today, MOH informed that there are some simple public health measures that need to continue to be practiced by the public. Especially, during the Transition to the Endemic phase.
5 Steps That People Should Practice
- Firstly, you must wear a face mask in public. Advice for those who do not wear face masks properly.
- Secondly, continue the practice of washing hands with soap and water or the use of hand sanitizer.
- Thirdly, make sure the cleanliness of the premises is at a good level.
- Fourthly, keep our distance from each other according to the situation.
- Lastly, please make sure that we are in a well-ventilated area
