The face mask mandate is not compulsory anymore when people go outdoors anymore. Gladly, this is actually a very recent announcement in Singapore. However, it will officially start on the 29th March 2022. This is indeed such great news.
According to the South China Morning Post website, people can now choose not to wear them outdoors. Even so, people still need to wear face masks in enclosed spaces like office buildings, shopping malls, and public transport.
The Prime Minister announces on the news is one of the changes related to the COVID-19 ban which was. He is none other than Lee Hsien Loong in the latest press conference. The move was due to the risk of transmission in the country at this time being much lower.
However, the Ministry of Health also still encourages people to wear face masks even when outside of the house. This is to protect themselves from the dangerous virus. In the press conference, Lee also said physical incarceration is still maintained to reduce the spread of infection. This is other than the face mask mandate.
Previously, Singapore informs it will reopen its borders. And, all fully vaccinated travelers from its General Travel Category countries or regions will transition to a new Vaccinated Travel Framework from April 1, 2022.
Other than that, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said that the republic will ease up cross-border travel. Substantially, the Omicron situation is now well under control.
