Hematogen Candy Bar, Made In Russia And Infused With Cow Blood

Hematogen candy bar is definitely not something new in this whole wide world. In fact, this somehow peculiar candy bar has been famous for a very long time already. Oddly, a lot of people do indeed love eating this candy bar anytime.

For those who might not know, Hematogen is a Soviet-era supplement infamous for containing at slightest 5 percent of black food albumin. Shockingly, it is a specialized term for cow blood. Even the sound of it makes it so disgusting. There are other ingredients in it that may vary. Usually, the candy bar contains sugar, condensed milk, and vanillin.

The ingredients in hematogen candy bar that people assume were controversial actually help to treat certain issues such as malnutrition, anemia, and also fatigue. That is why it is widely used in the Soviet Union. It is all because of the practical purposes that it brings especially for the consumers. Both adults and children are able to eat this candy.

As stated on the Russia Beyond website, this candy has its first version made in the year of 1890. At that time, it is only known as Gomel’s Hematogen because the ingredients consist of cow blood and egg yolk. Then in the 1920s, the Soviet Union has taken the recipe and made it suitable for the use of their soldiers. Then, many people like to eat it.
