Many people do not know, there is one unique chicken breed that is famous in Japan because of its mesmerizing features. The mentioned chicken breed would be the Onagadori chicken breed. It is a chicken with a majestic tail that is long and the measurement could come to over 20 feet long.

To be classified as an immaculate breed, it must have a tail of at slightest 1.5-meters-long. Onagadori’s tail plumes develop by 90 cm per year, chickens with tails measuring a few meters are exceptionally common. The record as of now stands at 11.3 meters.

Why Onagadori Chicken Breed Is So Special?

Based on the ChickenMag website, it is stated that the Onagadori chicken breed comes in three different colors. They are red with black breasts, purely white, and also white with black breasts.

Whatever the color combination, this special status chicken always going to have white earlobes. It also has a single comb. Sadly, this breed is right now recorded as an endangered species. Around 250 of them were kept by 250 breeders. One of the reasons for this may be that the hens are destitute egg layers which are around only 25 eggs per year. Hopefully, this chicken could be bred in much higher quantities and do not get extinct.
