Senior Minister of Education, Datuk Dr. Radzi Jidin informed that the Form Three Assessment (PT3) will be discontinued starting from 2022.

He announced the matter in a Special Press Conference just now.

For those who do not know, the Form Three Assessment, or PT3 is a summative assessment. It uses to assess the academic achievement of students at the lower secondary level in Malaysia.

This assessment covers the scope of the syllabus from Form 1 to Form 3. And based on the goals, objectives and content of the subject.

Before this, the Education Ministry (MOE) has yet to decide on the implementation of the Form Three Assessment (PT3) examination for the 2022 session, said Senior Education Minister Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin.

He said the MOE was looking into the most suitable approach related to PT3. By taking into account the level of mastery of students and indications from the ongoing 2021 school session.

“Today we decided that PT3 will be abolished starting this year,” Datuk Dr. Radzi Jidin said.

During the press conference, Datuk Dr. Radzi Jidin also informed us about the new assessment.

“Everyone is wondering when there is no UPSR and PT3, how can parents find out about the performance of their students in the context of the subjects they study at school,” he added.

The MOE has focused on efforts to strengthen school-based assessment or PBS since the abolition of the UPSR last year.

This school-based assessment has three components, namely Pentaksiran Biik Darjah (PBD), Pentaksiran Aktiviti Jasmani Sukan Kokurikulum (PAJSK), and Kokurikulum dan Pentaksiran Psikometrik (PPSI).
