Background Of Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, World Famous Muslim Scholars

Recently, we are shocked by the loss of Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi. He is definitely a famous figure known to many in all corners of the world. Maybe many people already know about him but do not get to know him very closely. This will talk more about him.

The background story of Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi

People know him as Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi. In fact, his real name is actually Yusuf bin Abdullah bin Ali bin Yusuf. He was born on the 9th of September 1926. The village where he was born is indeed the Shafat at-Turab Village, Mahallah al Kubra, Gharbiah in Egypt. Right after that, his father died when he was still around 2 years old. Therefore, his mother, uncle, and also his grandfather took care of him. Not only that, but his own mother died when Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi was in secondary school.

History of education

Since he was a child, he has been so well-known for his own intelligence. He always got first place except in the final exam in high school. He also finished second in the whole of Egypt with a difference of half a point from the one in the first place. As an adult, he then continued his studies at the Higher Arabic Studies and Discussion Institute and obtained a Higher Diploma certificate in Arabic Language and Literature. Other than that, he continued to step into the ivory tower by choosing Al-Azhar University as his next destination even though he accepted an offer at Dar al-Ulum, Cairo. At the University, he continued his studies in the field of Usuluddin. Importantly, he also received the title of doctor after completing his studies at the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) level.

Positions held throughout his life

The intelligence of his mind is surely something a trait of his that is famous. Not only in the educational aspect, but he is also active in leadership programs and holds various positions. His leadership characteristics were evident when he held positions at various levels such as Supervisor of Affairs at the Ministry of Waqf and Department of Islamic Culture al-Azhar and Director of the College of Religion, Qatar for 12 years since 1961. In addition, Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi also held important positions such as being the President of Al-Ittihad al-Alami li-Ulama’ Muslimin which is the World Union of Islamic Scholars, and many more.
