Orangutans are a rare sight to see. They are considered a critically endangered species with only around 100k left in the wild.

Additionally, the most critically endangered species of orangutans are the Tapanuli orangutan, with only around 800 left in the wild.

Have you ever wanted to see an orangutan up close? Well if you do, you should definitely head over to Semenggoh Wildlife Centre located at Kuching, Sarawak!

TikTok user, @yazixd5171 shares his experience at the wildlife centre. He met many orangutans when he went there.

From the TikTok video he uploaded, you can see him feeding the orangutans, which is something you can’t do at zoos! Take a look at his video below:

Not only that, you can even see the orangutans up close in person, which is something you don’t see every day.

Semenggoh Wildlife Centre

The Semenggoh Nature Reserve is located about 20 kilometres south of Kuching. It is a home to a colony of semi-wild orangutans who are not afraid to interact with humans.

When it comes to Orangutan rehabilitation facilities, none in Sarawak can compare to the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre at Semenggoh Nature Reserve.

Back in 1975, it was built as a refuge for Orangutans that are wounded, orphaned or being held captive as illegal pets.

Of course, now, the facility also provides a safe haven for the Orangutans and an educational opportunity for the public to learn more about this critically endangered primate.
