American Idol’s Willie Spence Dies In Car Accident

American Idol runner-up, Willie Spence, aged 23, died in a car accident on Tuesday. A source from Spence’s family stated that his car crashed into a semi-truck parked on the roadside. He was driving home from Tennessee to Alabama.

The accident happened in Jasper at 4 p.m when Spence crashed his Jeep Cherokee into the back of the truck. He died at the hospital due to his injuries.

Spence Was Set To Perform In November

On Tuesday before the accident, Spence posted a video of himself singing a church song, “You Are My Hiding Place.” He would be performing at the Trinity Baptist Church in November.

Celebrity friends Katharine McPhee and Mickey Guyton mourn the passing of the star. McPhee posted the news on her Instagram story. She also posted a video of her and Spence together.

American Idol tweeted on Twitter stating that the American Idol family is devastated about Spence’s passing. “He was a true talent who lit up every room he entered and we will miss him. We send our condolences to his loved ones.”

On the 19th season of American Idol, Spence became the runner-up after singing Rihanna’s song, Diamonds.
