Fire is crucial in our daily lives. We use fire to cook, to warm ourselves during cold days, use them as the source of light when the electricity is out, and many more. No matter how beneficial it is, it also can cause harm to people and our surroundings.
For instance, if we are not careful enough, a small fire that we use for cooking can cause a big flame. Sometimes, it can even burn the whole house or building. Therefore, follow these steps in case this type of disaster happens:
1) Do not panic! Alert everyone in the house or building using the alarm.
2) Save yourself and your family through the designated exits.
3) Call and inform the firefighters. Provide them with the address of the incident.
4) Try to put out the fire while waiting for the firefighters. But do remember not to harm yourself.
Tips on how to save yourself when there is fire:
1) Make sure to know one or two ways out.
2) Make sure to educate yourself and your family about the disaster. Carry out a fire drill, so that they will get familiar with the situation.
3) Avoid using grille gates for the doors and windows of your house. If you already have, make sure that the grille gates can be unlocked from the inside, easily.
4) Make sure not to put any obstacles that can make it difficult for you to find a way out.
5) Put the keys for the door or grille gates in a place that is easy to reach. Make sure everyone in the house knows the location of the keys.
6) Provide at least one fire extinguisher for your home.
Watching fire catch our house is catastrophic, however, watching it takes the lives of our loved ones is more heartbreaking. Therefore, with these steps and tips, you can at least save people’s lives. Educate yourself before it is too late!
