The champions of Majlis Tilawah Dan Menghafaz Al-Quran Peringkat Kebangsaan (MTHQA-62) have been announced.
For the male category, the winner goes to Mohamed Sameer Mohamed Magahed, a qari from Bahrain. Besides that, Sofizah Mousin made Malaysia proud as she was chosen as the qariah with marks of 89.66 percent.
Interestingly, her enchanting voice when reading the Quran has made her a Malaysian qariah. Let’s get to know Sofizah. Here are the facts about our qariah.
Facts about Sofizah Mousin
- Sofizah Mousin is a Sabahan. She was born in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
- This year, she turns 33 years old.
- Also, her love towards the Al-Quran had been shown since she was a child.
- She studied at SMK Agama Inanam Sabah . After that, she continued her studies at Universiti Malaysia Sabah.
- She began to learn taranum in high school.
- Sofizah is a teacher who teaches Geography at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Taman Sea, Petaling Jaya.
- Moreover, she is a wife and a mother of two children.
- Had won the Southeast Asian Tilawah Competition.
- Participated in the MTHQA three times, including this year.
- Not just that, before participating in this year’s tilawah, she joined the national competition of Majlis Tilawah dan Menghafaz Al-Quran (MTHQ) in Selangor. She became the winner in the Qariah category.
- Being a mother and a teacher at the same time, she only had the chance to practice her taranum while driving.
- Besides that, she learnt taranum from Ustaz Anwar Ghazali dan Ustaz Yahya Haji Daud.
Upon being this year’s Qariah, Sofizah shared the tips in taranum. She said, “Love the Quran. Make the Quran our main guide. Believe that with every alphabet that we read, Allah will reward us. Besides that, Allah will also provide our lives with peacefulness.”
Also, MTHQA-62 was held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. Sofizah brought home a trophy and cash prize presented by The Queen, Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah.
