Famous Myths About Health In Malaysia

Dr. Samhan is no longer a stranger on social media. The doctor is very active in educating the public about health on TikTok. Recently, Dr. Samhan revealed some of the famous myths about health in Malaysia.

Let’s look into some of the famous Malaysian myths on health:

1) Eating eggs can worsen the wound

  • Eating eggs do not make your wound worse. It will only make it worse if you are allergic to eggs.

2) Drinking soybean drink can make women produce fair babies while eating too much soy sauce make women produce black babies

  • It’s funny that people believe in this. No drinks or food can affect a baby’s skin colour.

3) Taking a shower at night can cause watery lungs

  • Showering at night will not cause you to have watery lungs. In fact, you should shower to care for your hygiene.

4) Eating ice cubes can produce a big-sized baby

  • There is no relationship between eating ice cubes and a baby’s size.

5) Do not dress your baby in yellow clothes because it will make your baby have a condition called jaundice

  • Jaundice happens due to too much bilirubin building up in the body, and not because of yellow clothes.

6) Eating ice cubes when having a period can cause your menstrual blood to clot

  • It is normal that certain women to have blood clots during their period. However, if you are concerned, you may seek a doctor.

7) You get a sty because you stalk people

  • A stye occurs because of an infection of oil glands in the eyelid.
