It looks like Guinness World Records released a statement everyone can relate to.

What is Monday blues?

The phrase, Monday blues, has been haunting everyone around the world. It is not a clinical term, but it is an overall negative connotation people experience at the end or beginning of a new week.

Monday has always been mundane and unproductive due to having to work after resting for the weekend.

What are the signs?

Stress and the feeling of having to start a new week after a short weekend rest might give you the Monday blues.

As said before, Monday blues is not a sickness. It can be anecdotal. Some might experience mood swings on Monday morning. However, it can be severe if it is not treated immediately.

Some of the signs that indicate you might have Monday blues are:

  • Tense muscles
  • Headaches
  • Troubled breathing
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Increased blood pressure

Ways to manage Monday blues

  • Relax your muscles
    • Progressive muscle relaxation helps release the tension in your body.
    • You can tense and relax your muscles accordingly to achieve a relaxing effect.
  • Breathing exercises
    • Take slow and deep inhalations and exhalations as diaphragmatic breathing.
  • Break out of your comfort zone and socialize
    • Emotional support can come from the people around you.
    • Developed social relationships help not only with stress, depression or anxiety but also boost self-esteem.
  • Regular exercise
    • You can improve your mood and emotional well-being by doing aerobic or resistance exercises.
  • Get enough sleep
    • Getting adequate sleep helps you stay energized and lessen the Monday blues effect.
  • Consult the professionals if it gets worse
    • If your Monday blues signs worsen, do not hesitate to consult with the professionals.

Hopefully, everyone gets over Monday, the worst day of the week, with ease and have a splendid week ahead!
