Jessica Gagen, 26, has been announced as the winner of Miss England 2022 recently. Interestingly, she is also the first red-haired beauty pageant to be crowned in the 94-year history of the title.
Additionally, Gagen is an aerospace engineering student which makes her a beauty with a brain. Due to her victory, she will now be competing on behalf of her country in Miss Worlds.
She took the opportunity to join Miss England as a way to further in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Besides that, she also used the platform to inspire people, especially those who are bullied.
She shared her story during her childhood, where she revealed that she was one of the bully-victims. People did not like her ginger hair. They hit, spat at her, called out her names, and even threw things at her. According to Gagen, the worst thing that she experienced was when a girl burned her for her ginger hair.
Nevertheless, when she turned eighteen, multiple agencies signed her up to be a model on international catwalks. Gagen said, “It is nice to be able to represent the younger kids and say, ‘I have been through it. You can use that pain to raise your game. Make it your superpower.”
The event was held in Birmingham on Monday, where Emily Cossey, 24, was announced as the 2nd runner-up. The 3rd runner-up goes to Milly Everatt, 22.
