A Special Suprise? Friends Prank Birthday Boy With Classic ‘Kompang’!

A birthday is usually celebrated with family and friends and will have lots of food and a special cake. A typical birthday song usually follows with the cake.

However, this group of people decided to sing the birthday song in a special way. They decided to ‘prank’ their friend with a special birthday song by a ‘kompang’ group!

Take a look at the video below:

Through the Facebook post by 張雋藤, you can see the friends gathered in a cafe and secretly recording the unexpecting man. After a while, a kompang group entered the cafe with full Malay attire.

The group brought in kompang and a drum and started playing a beat that we usually hear during Malay weddings. Then, they started singing happy birthday to him!

After realizing what is happening, the young man is seen blushing shyly at the situation. During the duration of the song, the man is seen hiding behind his hands. Can you imagine your friends doing that to you?  You must feel embarrassed, right?

What’s more intriguing is that the kompang group sang the song in 2 different languages! That surely is a special birthday present.

The video has over 1.1 million views and 21K likes on Facebook. People were amused with over 4k comments left on the video. Some users left comments saying happy birthday to the young man whilst others praised the Malaysian spirit.

Another Facebook user commented that the man is special because kompang are usually used during weddings.
