‘One Piece’ Loses Top Spot As Shonen Manga, ‘Chainsaw Man’ Takes Over

The One Piece manga loses its top spot on the popular manga app Manga Plus, Chainsaw Man becomes number 1 most-read manga.

The new generation manga Chainsaw Man has passed the best-selling popular manga One Piece. As of 2 November, Chainsaw Man currently has 921,359 reads whilst One Piece only has 780,207 reads.

Manga Plus is accessible all around the world, with the exception of Japan, China, and South Korea, all of which have their own localised services (including the original Japanese version, Shonen Jump+).

Consequently, the number of page views on Manga Plus is a good indicator of a series, and Chainsaw Man by Tatsuki Fujimoto is presently the most-read manga in the English-speaking world.

Shueisha created and published Manga Plus, which includes popular manga such as Naruto, Dragon Ball and One Piece.

The rise in Chainsaw Man sudden popularity is due to the manga returning after a 2-year hiatus. Part 2 of the manga picked up where it left off right before it went into hiatus.

Not only that, recently the Chainsaw Man anime debuted in October. The well-known anime studio MAPPA produced the anime and received high-praise since it released.

Nonetheless, this is hardly a loss for One Piece. Chainsaw Man can only hope to match the success of Eiichiro Oda’s masterwork, which has sold over 500 million copies and been continuously published for 25 years. The manga currently in its 1064th chapter.

There are many connections between these two fictional works. Chainsaw Man contrasts unsettling moments with a really humorous and unique style of humour. On the other hand, One Piece is undeniably less violent and gloomy. Its cheerful tones frequently give room for deeper themes like freedom and tyranny.
