Eminem is the latest artist to enter the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He was inducted over the weekend, along with other artist such as Dolly Parton, Duran Duran, Lionel Richie and a few others.
Eminem gave a humbling speech after performing with Steven Tyler and Ed Sheeran at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
“I’m so honored, and I’m so grateful that I’m even able to be up here doing hip-hop music because I love it so much,” the Eminem said on stage.
What’s even more interesting is that during his speech, he thanked more than 100 rappers that helped him become the person that he is today.
Furthermore, he credited rappers such as 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G, and Gang Starr to name a few.
“Those were my rock stars man,” Eminem said. He also hopes that they also get a chance to be inducted in the future.
“Because without them, a lot of us wouldn’t be here,” Eminem said. “I know I wouldn’t.” Dr. Dre, a longtime collaborator and friend of Eminem’s, had the honour to induct him.
Dr.Dre recalls that almost everyone tried to dissuade him from working with the then-unknown rapper. They claimed that nobody could see the vision or believe in it.
“I knew that his gifts were undeniable,” Dre said. “Each of us was what the other one needed — and I was willing to bet my entire career on it.”
“It is my great honor to induct my friend, Eminem, into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.”
